Introduction to Trees of the San Francisco Bay Region by Glenn Keator,
The mild Mediterranean climate of the San Francisco Bay Region nurtures an enormous variety of trees: majestic oaks and coast redwoods, lovely flowering dogwood and western redbud, graceful bigleaf maple, and many others. This guidebook, with its easy-to-use keys, informative species accounts, and copious illustrations, is the perfect guide to California's native and naturalized trees for those who want a handy, authoritative manual to carry into the field.

Exploding tree - Exploding trees are a phenomenon mostly observed in the northeastern United States and Canadian wilderness, and usually involve maple trees. On April 1, 2005, this was the subject of an April Fools hoax covered by National Public Radio, stating that maple trees in New England had been exploding due to a failure to collect their sap, causing pressure to build from the inside.

B*-tree - A B*-tree is a tree data structure, a variety of B-tree, where the leaf nodes of the tree are chained together in form of a linked list. That is efficient for searching at the cost of a more expensive insertion.

Black Maple - The Black Maple is a species of maple closely related to the Sugar Maple, and treated as a variety of it by some authors. Identification can be confusing due to the tendency of the two species to form hybrids.

Bigleaf Maple - The Bigleaf Maple or Oregon Maple (Acer macrophyllum) is a large deciduous tree that grows to be up to 35 m tall and is native to western North America, mostly near the Pacific coast, from southernmost Alaska south to southern California. Some stands are also found inland in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains of central California, and a tiny population occurs in central Idaho.
